Wee Wedgits |
Manipulatives are the building blocks of motor, cognitive, and language skills and foster planning and problem solving, creativity and imagination. Block play enhances motor, language, and cognitive development and encourages creativity, imaginative play, and problem solving. Their versatility makes blocks suitable for both open-ended and structured play. Wedgits offer progressive play opportunities. Wee Wedgits introduces children to color, size, and stacking. Wedgits Starter expands that play by adding more pieces in more sizes. Wedgits Deluxe reduces the size of the pieces and adds a clear rack that encourages more sophisticated building. Open-ended play fosters creativity while activity cards challenge children to figure out how to build what's pictured. Stringing & Threading develop fine motor skills and eye/hand co-ordination while enhancing language and cognitive development. Offering progressively difficult lacing activities enables children to gain mastery and build confidence. An easy to hold wooden sewing block, Sew 'n Sew challenges children first to lace, then to figure out how to retrace their steps to unlace the block, enhancing problem solving as well as fine motor skills. Mazes & More enable children to manipulate small parts safely, building motor, language, and cognitive skills as they move beads along wire mazes. Funny Face challenges and stimulates by requiring a different hand movement for tracking beads along each wire and rewarding success with different sights and sounds. Impulse Toys are inexpensive, delightful skill-builders. Most address a single need and offer a single reward. Translucent Groan Tube, for example, enhances motor development and rewards successful grasp and wrist rotation with a "groan." More challenging to activate, Spinning Melody Top stimulates fine motor development with dual delights: lights and music. Special Note Regarding Toy Safety No two children are alike in their development, abilities, limitations, or personalities, and all these factors must be taken into account when choosing toys. What is appropriate and safe for one child may not be for another. Manufacturers label toys with small parts that pose potential choking hazards to children as being "not for children under 3 years old;" however, that does not mean the toy is, therefore, appropriate and safe for all children over the age of three. Those children, of any age, who continue to put everything in their mouths require special consideration. We urge you to consider carefully the children for whom you are purchasing and to purchase with their needs in mind. |
